Dream Catching

23. September 2015 Truth 10

I thought I’d share some notes that I took from a sermon delivered by Ps Sal from our church. She titled it ‘Open Shut Them’. She referenced a story in the book of Chronicles about two kings. Father and son. One king closed the door on his faith and forced his people to do the same. His son,  the king that succeeded him after many years of lost hope reopened the door and led the people to believe again. The son had a vision. A dream. Ps Sal began to expand on the dreams that God puts in our hearts. After weeks of feeling inexplicably weighed down, doubtful and questioning my own dreams. I knew this word was for me. Here are a few of my notes that I took down.

13/9/2015 Ps Sal,

Have you ever opened the door and all of a sudden you step into something you didn’t expect. It’s overwhelming. It seems too big for you. Life presents impossibilities. You lose hope.  It’s because we focus so much on our own ability (or lack of) as well as rely on our own strength (which quickly grows weary)  we want things done in our own time (Drive through mentality…i’ll expand on this in my next post). We live in the circumstances or ‘what ifs’ rather than looking to the one who planted this dream in our hearts. The author of your dream. You need to understand that God has a timing and a destiny for your dream. He knows your heart. So how do we get that dream out of our hearts and into the world? Rather than being caught up in the ‘but I haven’t done this yet’ ‘I haven’t got enough’, start to prepare yourself so that when God says NOW you are ready.

So how do you prepare yourself?

-Get rid of the clutter in your life. That means anything that takes you away from your dream. It’s not a bad thing or a good thing, it’s just all that ‘stuff’ in your life  which is going to distract you from pursuing that dream. This might mean praying more, reading more books to educate you on your dream, less television or maybe it means less people.

-Speak it out. Let the world know of your dream. Speak it into life.

-Recognise that not everyone is going to get it. People may laugh scorn and mock and refuse to come with you on your journey. Sometimes when you share your dream it’s the people who you expect to support you that will cut your dream. Expect opposition. ( haters )

-Focus on the things you can be grateful and thankful for right now. You are healthy, you have a family, you actually have a job, you get to wake up every morning and start a new day. Once you start this, your list will keep growing.

Those are just a few to get you started…

Wearing my favourite top at the moment which is also another sneak peek from our boutique collection. It’s one of those ‘omg I love it’ or ‘it’s too weird, I couldn’t pull it off’ kinda pieces. That’s probably what I love about it the most. Not everyone is going to get it. 🙂

Wisdom. This is the stuff great leaders are made of. Good leaders focus on common good. Great leaders step out and take the next step ‘catch dreams’. Thanks for sharing. You pulled off the look. Bapa.
