For as long as I can remember IT has always been my happy place, my escape, my release. Even as a little girl, I remember trying on my mom’s shoes while she was at work, and playing dress up with all her clothes. I loved wearing her red lipstick and pearls and imagining them announcing “the winner of Miss Zimbabwe 1999…Matifadza Kachere ” practicing my speech in the mirror and perfecting my winning smile.

Today, I love that Even though I woke up feeling overwhelmed with life , Feeling like a young vulnerable and confused little girl,  I got myself out of bed and threw this ensemble on and walked out of the house feeling like a strong empowered woman who is on top of her game!! IT has that effect on me.

I think Powerful woman, i think Pencil Skirt. Thank you Mr Christian Dior for inventing this little beauty. Mine isn’t Dior , it’s Bardot , but Charlize Theron ain’t got nothing on me in this skirt. In hindsight , I could’ve waited till it was on sale , but I had to have it ( i know, rookie move! ) The placement of the zip …so it’s a little naughty… but c’mon …Live a little!!  Okay… time to address the elephant in the room. The hounds-tooth Jersey wrap. It is a show stopper…definitely forced my confidence to come back from wherever it had gone. Tapi got it for me online , he wont say, sorry ladies. I wore it two ways just to show you the functionality of a classic print.

Version one can be worn in the office. It’s strong but also very feminine. It sorta says to your boss ‘hello, My name is Mati , I like you , so I won’t take your job. But don’t get it twisted. I CAN take your job’.

Version two . A bit more playful, sassy, She’s expecting to turn heads. You can wear that on the weekend, lunch with that friend who forces you to dress up even if you don’t want to ( I’m that friend)..

IT allows me to dream, to believe , to be who I want to be on that given day. An opportunity.  IT is fashion.

Yes! You look like you are on top of the world despite dragging yourself out of bed. The way one looks feeds back to the way one feels. You do know how to put words together. Let the journey continue! Your style, the outfit, the heels, the colour contrast are immaculate. The setting and the photographer are all perfect. Bapa.
